Radiation safety

Radiation safety at KAP Logistics LLP is ensured through a set of organizational, technological, technical, sanitary-epidemiological and medical-preventive measures aimed at reducing exposure levels of personnel and the public, in accordance with the legislative requirements of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as taking into account international treaties in the field of radiation safety. The organization has approved internal regulatory documentation on radiation safety.

The following types of ionizing radiation occur in the production of the organization:

  • alpha radiation;
  • beta radiation;
  • gamma radiation.

The Organization constantly monitors the radiation safety situation at all facilities. Industrial radiation control in the organization is carried out by those responsible for industrial radiation control who have special training and are certified by the Committee for Atomic and Energy Supervision and Control of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan (hereinafter – CAENC RK).

Industrial radiation control includes:

  • individual dosimetric control of Group A employees;
  • radiometric monitoring of the production area, workplaces, and environmental facilities.

In order to increase the level of radiation safety and protection of personnel and the public, regular monitoring is carried out:

  • planning and implementation of radiation safety measures;
  • implementation of systematic industrial control of the radiation situation at workplaces, in premises, on the territories of the organization, in controlled areas;
  • conducting regular monitoring and accounting of individual radiation doses of personnel;
  • conducting preliminary and periodic medical examinations of staff;
  • informing staff about the levels of ionizing radiation at their workplaces and the amount of individual radiation doses they receive;
  • certification of personnel employed at nuclear energy facilities in the CAENC of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
  • staff training in radiation safety courses.

The organization has developed an Accident Management Plan (PLAN), which provides for rescue measures, actions by managers and employees of a hazardous production facility, and professional emergency services in the field of industrial and radiation safety. The plan is approved by the head of the organization and coordinated with the professional emergency rescue service in the field of industrial and radiation safety.

The work to eliminate the accident and its consequences involves, first of all, members of the rescue emergency brigade (SAB), who are required to have an appropriate license in the field of atomic energy use and be certified.

In order to ensure radiation safety at the enterprise, emergency response training and exercises are conducted on a regular basis according to the approved schedule to work out interaction in case of possible accidents, including radiation accidents and accidents involving chemicals with members of the SUB. The emergency service is provided with the necessary equipment, dosimetric equipment and personal protective equipment for personnel.
